WORKERS'
COMPENSATION

Workers' Compensation is a system of benefit payments designed for people who have been injured in the course of their employment. It also provides compensation for workers who develop an occupational disease as a result of their employment.

North Carolina’s Workers’ Compensation Act

Workers’ Compensation is a system of benefit payments designed for people who have been injured in the course of their employment. It also provides compensation for workers who develop an occupational disease as a result of their employment.

North Carolina’s Workers’ Compensation Act provides temporary total disability checks for injured workers who are under a doctor’s care and receiving medical treatments that are reasonable or necessary to provide a cure, give relief or lessen the period of disability. Compensation for permanent injury is based on an impairment rating, impaired wage earning capacity or permanent total disability.

With few exceptions, the North Carolina law requires all employers that have three or more employees to obtain workers’ compensation insurance or quality as self-insured employers.

Because of the complexity of the law, and its limitations on claims, it can be difficult for employees to pursue and receive workers compensation benefits after an injury. An attorney experienced in workers’ compensation law can help ensure injured employees get the benefits they are eligible to receive.

If you or a loved one has been injured on the job, you may be entitled to Workers’ Compensation benefits. Contact us for a free initial consultation.

"Timothy Welborn got me workers’ compensation, got all my medical bills paid, and I went to physical therapy. He got me a real good settlement. I’d recommend everybody in Tim’s office – all his staff, because he will get you help."
